It’s been another big summer for women’s football.
Euro 2022 champions England come oh so close to winning the World Cup, narrowly losing in the final to Spain. Many of Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses play in the Women’s Super League (WSL), the top level of club football in England.
Since turning fully professional in 2018, the league has gone from strength to strength, and now boasts major TV rights packages in the US and UK.
It means you can watch every single match live, even if you’re based outside both of those countries. Here’s everything you need to know.

How to watch the Women’s Super League in the US
You can watch every match live in the US, but some require a subscription.
CBS Sports (Paramount+)
CBS has the rights to the Women’s Super League in the US, but it only broadcasts selected games – typically one or two per week.
These will be available to stream live on the company’s Paramount+ streaming service. It starts at $5.99 per month, and there’s 7-day free trial if you’ve never signed up before.
An even smaller selection of matches will be shown on the main CBS Sports Network, which is available via Fubo (from $74.99 per month after 7-day free trial) and DirecTV Stream (from $64.99 per month for three months, then $74.99 per month) if you don’t want to get cable. However, all of the matches available here will also be on Paramount+ at the same time.
The good news is that you don’t have to do without the rest of the fixtures.
The FA Player
The FA Player is a free service that broadcasts all of the other matches live.
Just head to the FA Player website and sign up for a free account, or download the app on iOS or Android.
How to watch the Women’s Super League in the UK
In the UK, you can also watch every match live, but via three different broadcasters.
Sky Sports
Sky shares the rights to the Women’s Super League, but it only usually shows one live game each weekend.
You have a few options when it comes to getting Sky Sports. The first is to get a TV package, which starts at £46 per month (requires at least a £26 per month Entertainment plan) for 18 months.
If you don’t mind paying a monthly subscription for your TV, Sky Glass is also worth considering. You can currently get the TV, Sky Sports, Sky Entertainment and Netflix for £14 per month for six months, though it will cost £65 per month for all three after that.
Both of the above include access on your phone, tablet and/or laptop via Sky Go.
That doesn’t apply to Sky’s Now streaming service, but it’s a more affordable option. A Now Sports membership (including all 11 Sky Sports channels) costs £34.99 per month at full price, but there are often deals available.
You may also want to add Now Boost, which adds 1080p video (rather than the usual 720p), removes ads and lets you stream on up to three devices at the same time (instead of the usual one). After that, it costs £6 per month extra.
BBC
The BBC also only shows around one live match per weekend.
Unlike many other broadcasters, you don’t need a subscription to watch the BBC. But you will need to pay for a TV licence, whether you’re watching live or via BBC iPlayer – this applies to any live TV. It currently costs £159 per household or business – learn more in our separate guide to the UK TV licence.
Once that’s taken care of, there are lots of options available to you. The first is simply direct on your TV, with almost all Sky, Virgin, Freeview and Freesat boxes including BBC channels by default.
You can also use BBC iPlayer across all your devices, while the WSL is also available to watch via the BBC Sport website when games are taking place.
The FA Player
The FA Player is a free service that broadcasts all of the other matches live.
Just head to the FA Player website and sign up for a free account, or download the app on iOS or Android.
How to watch the Women’s League outside the US and UK
Before trying to watch US or UK TV from abroad, it’s worth checking which broadcaster has the rights to the Women’s Super League where you’re based. That’s DAZN in many European countries, Optus Sport in Australia and Sky Sport in Germany.
But if you’re just visiting another country, it makes sense to access your US or UK subscription, which requires a VPN. We’re using NordVPN for the purposes of this tutorial, but there are plenty of great alternatives in our best VPN chart.
Download the relevant VPN app
Anyron Copeman / Foundry
Head to the download page for the VPN you’d like to install and click ‘Download App’. The likes of NordVPN are available on a range of devices.
Connect to US or UK server
Anyron Copeman / Foundry
Open the app and sign in to your account if necessary. Then, select any US or UK server and connect to it.
Depending on the service you’re using, it might look quite different to the above. But this should be relatively easy to find.
Start watching as usual
Anyron Copeman / Foundry
Head to the website or app you’d usually use to start watching. You should now be able to stream content as normal and without any restrictions.
